About Alicia Billington, MD, PhD
Dr. Billington is a St. Petersburg native. She attended the International Baccalaureate Program at St. Petersburg High School followed by Cornell University where she studied Biological Engineering, earning a Master of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering. She then attended the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine where she became the first dual degree MD and PhD graduate in Medicine and Biomedical Engineering.
Dr. Billington is board certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). She completed a six year integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of South Florida serving as a Chief Resident her senior year. She then worked as an Assistant Professor at the Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University, where she continues on faculty as an Adjunct Professor teaching medical students and residents.
Her research is wide-ranging with experiences from HIV clinical trials to product development with West Coast Pharmaceuticals to even working as a NASA SHARP Intern. Her publications include a wide variety of plastic surgery topics and mathematical modeling. She has also been published in multiple magazines, newspapers, and asked to serve on Podcasts for her expertise in health policy, which she is highly engaged in at the local, state, and national level. She has spoken at a Congressional Hill briefing, served as the American Medical Association Government Relations Intern, written numerous resolutions on health care issues, and worked on a graduate education bill with her local representative. She currently serves on the American Society of Plastic Surgery Healthcare and Legislative Advocacy Committees. She frequently engages with Congress on behalf of her patients and her profession.
Dr. Billington is married to her husband, Josh, who always keeps a smile on her face. They have a daughter named Elle and three rescue dogs. A few of her favorite things include running, all things pink, cheese, and a good math problem.
